Hi, I am Susan, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I strive to find a balance of exploring your patterns along with giving you the tools that you need to become your true and authentic self. Most importantly, I want to approach your concerns with cultural sensitivity and empathy.
I understand the pressures to conform to what others beside yourself want you to be. As a second generation immigrant from Palestine, it was hard finding a Therapist who could listen to the unique challenges I faced as an Arab woman in America. I enjoy working with people who tend to be very creative, intuitive, but feel overly responsible for other people’s feelings. They may often think there is something wrong with them because that is what they may have been conditioned to think or feel or just plainly because they are reacting to legitimate injustices that they have faced.
My goal as a Licensed Therapist is to embody the importance of vulnerability and connection through my work. I have found that when people are in a safe space to be themselves, they are able to let go of unhelpful beliefs, people, and patterns that leave them feeling “stuck”. Whether it is learning ways to embrace your identity or finding the tools to navigate feelings of anxiety, trauma, and bad relationships-I enjoy helping you tap into your hidden gifts and getting to the heart of your struggles. I strive to provide you a secure and personal space to help you repair old wounds and give coping skills along the way. As a Palestinian woman, I am also passionate about destigmatizing mental health services among communities of color and emphasizing the importance of seeking services when needed. If you would like to learn more about me and my approach/specialties, please visit my website: https://susanabdelhaq.com/

I also really enjoy working with adult children of Immigrant parents who struggle to find satisfying relationships. I specialize in Narcissistic Abuse Recovery.
