Andi Chen, MA, LMHC
Hi, I’m Andi (she/they pronouns). I specialize in supporting adults experiencing trauma, depression, stress and anxiety, and am intimately aware of the particular challenges facing Asian Americans, racialized groups, immigrants, and children of immigrants and refugees. I provide a relatable, compassionate and open space, where you can explore all aspects of yourself, and feel heard, seen and supported.
I primarily use Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing (SE), and mindfulness-based practices, grounded in values of anti-oppression and compassion. As a somatic trauma counselor, I believe that greater healing occurs through reconnecting with our bodies, and listening to what it may be telling us, in addition to making sense of our thoughts and emotions. As an IFS practitioner, I believe that we are comprised of multitudes, and that giving our many parts attention and care leads to greater internal harmony and external freedom. As an East Asian therapist with multiple intersecting identities – including Chinese, Taiwanese, Canadian, American, child of immigrants and refugees, genderfluid, Buddhist – I welcome your many parts and whole self.
I believe we all have the innate capacity to heal and transform. Therapy with me is holistic – engaging your mind, body, emotions and spirit – focusing on concrete skills and strategies for tangible relief in your day to day, as well as deep transformation and establishing a greater sense of self, ease and freedom to “just be”.
